Al igual que en 2014, Game of Thrones, de HBO, ganó el mayor número de nominaciones a los Emmy. Esta vez, el drama basado en los libros de George R. R. Martin recogió 24 candidaturas, 7 más que el año pasado.
American Horror Story, de FX, quedó en segundo lugar con 19 nominaciones, 2 más que en 2014 cuando quedó en el tercer puesto.

Una vez leídas todas las nominaciones, HBO sumó en total 126 candidaturas, cuando en 2014 hizo solo 99. ABC quedó segundo, pero muy lejos con 42, principalmente por How to Get Away With Murder y American Crime.
