Una vez más, Game of Thrones (Juego de tronos) encabeza la lista de nominaciones a los premios Emmy 2016, con 23 candidaturas por su sexta temporada, siendo seguida muy de cerca, con 22, por la serie limitada The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
Además de mejor drama, la serie de HBO ganó 11 trofeos en 2015, marcando un récord en la historia de esta gala, y este año intentará repetir la hazaña, aunque primero deberá superar como mejor drama de televisión a The Americans (FX), Better Call Saul (AMC), Downton Abbey (PBS), Homeland (Showtime), House of Cards (Netflix) y Mr. Robot (USA Network).
En tanto, en la competencia por la mejor comedia, los nominados son Blackish (ABC), Modern Family (ABC), Master of None (Netflix), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix), Veep (HBO) – ganadora de la estatuilla en 2015 –, Silicon Valley (HBO) y Transparent (Amazon).
CLAVES DE LOS EMMY 2016
Las nominaciones a los premios Emmy 2016, su edición número 68, fueron anunciadas el jueves 14 de julio por los actores Anthony Anderson, de Black-ish, y Lauren Graham, de Gilmore Girls.
Las votaciones empezarán este 15 de agosto para los más de 22.000 miembros de la Television Academy y terminarán el 29 de agosto.
Algunos ganadores de la competencia serán anunciados durante la gala de los Creative Arts Awards, del 17 de septiembre, mientras que la fiesta principal será celebrada un día después, el 18 de septiembre, siendo transmitida en vivo por ABC desde las 7:00 pm (hora local) en Estados Unidos.
