Grey's Anatomy: Sarah Drew se queda sin April Kepner y sin su nueva serie, 'Cagney & Lacey'

Doble decepción. Sarah Drew no solo está quedándose sin Grey’s Anatomy, sino también sin su nuevo proyecto, Cagney & Lacey.

A pesar de haber ordenado la realización del piloto, CBS decidió no continuar con el reboot de Cagney & Lacey, que debían protagonizar Drew como Cagney y la actriz Michelle Hurd como Lacey. Entertainment Weekly informó que la cadena prefirió quedarse en su lugar con el piloto de Magnum P.I., otro reboot para la próxima temporada.

A principios de marzo fue anunciado que la décimo cuarta sería la última temporada de Sarah Drew como parte del elenco de Grey’s Anatomy, donde interpreta a la Dra. April Kepner desde hace nueve años, y a los pocos días, CBS la convocó para realizar esta nueva adaptación de Cagney & Lacey, un clásico de los años 80 estelarizado por Tyne Daly y Sharon Gless.

El reboot de Cagney & Lacey fue escrito por Bridget Carpenter (Friday Night Lights) y, su piloto, dirigido por Rosemary Rodriguez como una coproducción de CBS TV Studios y MGM TV. Sin embargo, el proyecto no avanzó más y CBS perdió la oportunidad de abrir las puertas a una producción realizada en su mayoría por mujeres.

La última aparición de Sarah Drew en Grey’s Anatomy tendrá lugar en el final de temporada del próximo 17 de mayo, una semana después de que su personaje, April, sobreviviera a un accidente automovilístico.

El día de la emisión de ese penúltimo episodio de la décimo cuarta temporada, Drew compartió varias fotos de sus últimos días en el set del drama médico.

First of all, Jesse knocked this scene completely out of the park. His performance destroyed me. Wow. Secondly, For me, this photo speaks volumes about our partnership. Jesse and I had some very trying stories to tell over the years and there were many moments when we really needed to lean on each other to get through them. And we did. To name a few: Samuel’s death, signing divorce papers, when Harriet was cut out of me (Jesse was on set to do the off camera phone call), when April tells Jackson she needs to move out because it’s just too hard. The scene right here where Jackson prays over April was one of those moments. It was agonizing for me, because I wanted so badly to reach out and offer him support in the scene to let him lean on me – cuz that’s what we do for each other- but I had to just lie there unconscious letting him do his beautiful work alone. So, after he finished his coverage, I reached out to hug him and our makeup artist @lovveeani caught it on film. Our partnership on this show has been so sweet, so collaborative, so challenging (in the absolute BEST way). We got to tell stories that really matter, that have reached out and provided a safe space for people to love, laugh, mourn and grow. I will be forever grateful to my co-captain for the 9 years of friendship and for the opportunity to tell such beautiful stories together. Thank you, Jesse . Photocred @lovveeani
